Présentation statistique

Data description

The survey is conducted approximately every 10 years in six waves from September to September among ordinary households and their members. It is a ‘diary’ survey. First, a questionnaire is used to ask the respondent about his practices over a long period of time and about his irregular or infrequent activities. The respondent is interviewed face-to-face by an interviewer during a visit to his home. A daily diary is then used, in which the respondent must record details of his activities during two specified days, one weekday and one weekend day. In this diary, each line corresponds to a basic period of 10 minutes. It measures the time taken by an activity at the moment it is performed, or shortly afterwards, and therefore does not rely on memory. Respondents describe their schedule throughout the day, noting the start and end times of each activity.

This diary can be completed on paper, as in previous surveys, or online via a mobile phone or computer.

To take into account seasonal variations in schedules, data for this survey are collected over a period of one year.
