Insee is responsible for the LTS survey in 2020 from the Direction Generale des Entreprises (DGE). The nonresponse correcting method were reviewed to improve the estimation of overnight stays and trips. This improvement raises the levels of the estimates compared with the statistics previously published by the DGE, but does not change the analyses of changes. Documentation is on the INSEE website.

In 2023, methodological changes were implemented :

• The method used to select the trips to be described has become random.

Before this change, the trip to describe was the most expensive, which led to selection bias (most significant trip, leading, for example, to an overestimation of expenses).

• A reorganization of the questions and clarifications provided to determine whether the trip was for business or not.

These changes affected the 2023 results. 2024 is the first full year of these changes.
