graphiqueActivity tendency in building construction

- Source: INSEE
In the new building sector (dwelling and non dwelling), the balances of opinion on the expected activity are virtually stable compared to those of October, at some particularly degraded levels, well under their long-term averages. In the maintenance and improvement sector, the balance is also almost stable, remaining close to its average.
The economic uncertainty felt by building construction managers has kept on increasing.

graphiqueExpected activity in the building construction

- Source: INSEE
Order books are judged slightly more garnished than in October but still remain degraded
In November 2024, the balance of opinion relating to the level of building construction managers' order books has bounced back but remains degraded, below its long-term average.
Given their workforce size, building contractors estimate that their order books provide them with 8.0 months of work, a duration which is also increasing and stands above its long-term average.
Demand difficulties have increased very slightly
Slightly fewer business managers than in the previous month have reported facing obstacles limiting their production: at 60%, this share remains below its long-term average. A slightly larger number of them than in the previous month have reported facing insufficient demand (35%), a share above its average for the ninth consecutive month. Conversely, again fewer business managers have reported facing workforce shortages (28%), a proportion which has fallen below its long-term average.
Slightly more companies have also declared facing only demand difficulties (19%) and a bit fewer are reporting facing only supply difficulties (24%).
