In the second quarter of 2022, producer prices of services sped up strongly over a quarter (+2.2% after +0.6%), as over a year (+5.0% after +3.6%). There are the largest increases in available data since the first quarter of 2006. Prices accelerated both for services sold to home businesses (+1.9% after +0.6%), to households in France (+2.4% after +0.5%) or on foreign markets (+3.6% after +1.3%).

In the second quarter of 2022, producer prices of services sold to home businesses accelerated sharply over a quarter (+1.9% after +0.6%) and over a year (+3.9% after +2.4%).

Acceleration of prices for transportation and storage services, for administrative and support service activities and for professional, scientific and technical activities
In the second quarter of 2022, prices for transportation and storage services sped up strongly over a quarter (+3.5% after +0.9%) and over a year (+8.2% after +5.1%). They were driven by a new acceleration of prices for freight transport services by road (+4.8% over a quarter, after +3.3% and +1.5%) in a context of rising fuel prices and strong recruitment difficulties.
Prices for administrative and support service activities sped up in the second quarter of 2022, both over a quarter (+1.7% after +0.9%) and over a year (+3.6% after +2.1%). Prices for temporary employment agency services were back on the rise over a quarter (+1.6% after +0.1%), while those for rental and leasing services remained relatively dynamic (+1.6% after +2.0%).
Prices for professional, scientific and technical activities sped up also in the second quarter of 2022 over a quarter (+1.1% after +0.4%), notably those for legal services (+2.4% after +0.5%). Prices for media representation services rebounded in accordance with the usual seasonal pattern (+15.5% after –8.6%). Year on year, prices for professional, scientific and technical activities accelerated again (+2.4%, after +1.4% and +1.1%).
Rise of prices for accommodation and food service activities and for information and communication services
In the second quarter of 2022, prices for accommodation and food service activities were strongly back on the rise over a quarter (+4.8% after –0.1%), mainly due to the significant rebound of those for hotel and similar accommodation services (+17.7% after –4.1%), notably as a result of a strong recovery in demand. Year on year, prices for accommodation and food service activities sped up sharply (+7.3% after +3.6%).
In the second quarter of 2022, prices for information and communication services went up by 1.0% over a quarter (after –0.1%): those for programming and broadcasting services rebounded in accordance with the usual seasonal pattern (+11.1% after –10.1%), while those for computer consultancy services decelerated (+0.6% after +2.2%). Year on year, prices for information and communication accelerated (+1.1% after +0.5%).
Deceleration of prices for real estate activities over a quarter
In the second quarter of 2022, prices for real estate activities decelerated over a quarter (+1.1% after +1.9%), but sped up over a year (+3.7% after +3.1%).

Services sold to households in France: +2.4%
In the second quarter of 2022, producer prices of services sold to households in France accelerated over a quarter (+2.4% after +0.5%), mainly due to the strong rebound of prices for transportation and storage services (+8.8% after –1.5%) and to the acceleration of those for accommodation and food service activities (+1.8% after +1.6%). Prices for real estate activities were back on the rise (+0.6% after +0.1%) and those for administrative and support service activities accelerated (+2.5% after +0.3%). Prices for professional, scientific and technical activities decelerated (+0.8% after +1.8%), as did those for information and communication services (+0.2% after +0.5%). Year on year, the rise of producer prices of services sold to households in France amplified again, reaching +4.2% in the second quarter of 2022 (after +2.6% and +2.2%).

Services sold on foreign markets: +3.6%
In the second quarter of 2022, exported services producer prices accelerated over a quarter (+3.6% after +1.3%). Those for transportation and storage services sped up sharply (+6.4% after +2.1%), notably those for sea and coastal freight water transport services (+6.6% after +3.4%) and, to a lesser extent, those for freight transport services by road (+4.0% after +3.4%). Prices for administrative and support service activities accelerated sharply (+2.7% after +1.7%). Those for information and communication services rebounded (+1.6% after –0.4%), while those for professional, scientific and technical activities went up again (+1.0% after +0.8%). Year on year, exported services producer prices remained on a very strong rise (+12.7% after +12.6%).

They are calculated, by market and by product, based on the results of the survey « Observation of prices in industry and services » (Opise) operated by INSEE.

BtoB: business to business, corresponding to services sold to home businesses;
BtoC: business to customer, corresponding to services sold to households in France;
