In Q2 2022, the prices of buildings' maintenance and improvement works rose by +2.3% Buildings maintenance and improvement price index - second quarter 2022
A steady growth over the quarter (+2.3%)
In Q2 2022, buildings’ maintenance and improvement work prices – IPEA – kept rising despite a slightly slowing down (+2.3% over the quarter after +2.9% and +1.9%). The rise was particularly marked in joinery installation (+3.2% after +3.9%), in plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation (+3.1% after +4.6%) and in other specialized construction works (+2.8% after +2.4%).
Prices grew at a more moderate pace and even decelerated in roofing (+2.4% after +2.8%), plastering (+1.9% after +2.4%), floor and wall covering works (+1.4% after +2.1%), and electrical installation works (+1.2% after +2.1%). They remained unchanged for painting and glazing (+1.3%).
Finally, prices slightly accelerated in other construction installation works (+1.1% after +0.6%).
Over the quarter, prices increased more in the residential sector (+2.4%) than in the non-residential sector (+2.2%).
8.7 % rise over a year
Year on year, buildings' maintenance and improvement work prices went up by 8.7% in Q2 2022 (after +8.3% in the previous quarter). The rise was also higher in the residential sector (+8.8%) than in the non-residential sector (+8.6%).
The increase was particularly marked in joinery installation (+13.2% as for the previous quarter), plumbing, heat and air-conditioning installation (+12.4% after +10.9%), and in roofing (+9.2% after +11.3%).
Prices rose at a more moderate pace in plastering (+7.3% after +7.1%) and in other specialized construction works (+7.2% after +5.5%) and, to a lesser degree, in electrical installation (+6.4% after +6.9%), floor and wall covering (+5.7% after +5.1%) and painting and glazing (+4.0% after +3.4%).
Finally, prices stayed stable at a low level for other construction installation works (+1.7% after +1.5%).
Revisions
The evolution in the IPEA between the fourth quarter of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022 was not revised (after rounding) and still stands at +2.9%.

The buildings’ maintenance and improvement work price index (IPEA) is a quarterly index which measures the evolution of prices (net of taxes) charged by construction enterprises (including artisanal forms) for their maintenance and improvement works in residential and non-residential buildings during the quarter under review.
The IPEA indices are not seasonally nor working-day adjusted.
