The tensions on the productive apparatus remain intense
In August 2022, the production capacity utilisation rate has risen again slightly. At 92.7%, it stands above its long-term average (88.9%).
As many business managers as in the previous month have reported that obstacles are limiting their production: their proportion (72%) is stable and remains higher than its average level. One in two business managers say they are facing difficulties due to a workforce shortage. This share is slightly up. Conversely, the share of business managers declaring supply difficulties has fallen again this month.
At the same time, the share of companies at the limit of their production capacity, that is to say that they could not produce more with their current means if they received more orders, is stable. Slightly less than one in two business managers have reported to be in this situation, against a third in average in the long term. More precisely, just over a quarter of business managers consider themselves both unable to increase their production in case of additional orders and facing difficulties due to a lack of personnel, a much higher share than in average. Finally, the share of business managers unable to increase their production and facing supply difficulties has slightly diminished.
The balance of opinion on expected prices has dropped for the third consecutive month
In August 2022, less business managers than in the previous month have reported that they will increase their prices over the next three months. The corresponding balance of opinion is decreasing, for the third consecutive month, but remains at a high level.

The opinion on order books has improved slightly
In August 2022, somewhat more business managers than last month have deemed the level of their order books to be higher than usual: the corresponding balance has rebounded slightly and stands well above its average. Besides, given their staff size, building contractors consider that their order books provide them with 8.7 months of work, a slightly shorter amount of time than the previous month but above its average.
Revision
The business climate in the building construction industry of July 2022 has not been revised (after rounding).
