Past production is assessed less positively than in January, but the outlook for the next three months is more favourable
In February 2022, the balance of opinion on past production has distinctly shrunk. Yet it remains above its average. On the contrary, the balance on the expected production over the next three months has slightly grown. It stands well above its average. Likewise, the general production prospects have been deemed more favourable than last month.
The balances of opinion on the order books also stand well above their average. The one on the foreign order books has somewhat decreased, while the one on the overall order books is at its highest since February 2018.
The balance associated to the current level of the finished-goods inventory has slightly withdrawn after two months of rise in a row and remains well below its average.
The balance on the trend in selling prices has risen again
After having clearly folded back in January 2022, the balance on the expected trend in selling prices over the next three months has sharply risen again, getting closer to its record level observed last December.
Furthermore, business leaders have reported feeling a little more economic uncertainty about the future of their business than they had last month.
The balances on the change in workforce, past as well as expected, have a little bit diminished but they remain well above their average.

For further information
For questions with three possible answers, a balance of opinion is the difference between the weighted percentage of « above normal » or « increase » answers and the weighted percentage of « below normal » or « decrease » answers.
Since the definitive data of April 2020, the way of correcting non-response has been modified. The usual method was to fill in missing answers by carrying on past answers from non-responding companies. Results are now computed on the sole basis of responding companies.
Answers to this survey have been gathered between 27 January 2022 and 18 February 2022.
Additional information (methodology, links, etc.) is available on the “Documentation” tab.
