The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution to the overall evolution. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.

In October 2018, the turnover increased sharply in the manufacturing industry (+3.2%) after a decrease in September (−1.9%). It also went up in industry as a whole (+2.7% after −1.5%).

Export turnover rebounded in October (+4.1% after −2.6% in September).

Increase over the last three months (+2.2%)

Over the last three months, the turnover rose in the manufacturing industry (+2.2%) as well as in industry as a whole (+2.5%). Within manufacturing, the turnover grew sharply in the manufacture of transport equipment (+6.9%), in “other manufacturing” (+1.0%), in the machinery and equipment goods (+2.4%), in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+3.2%) and more moderatly in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.4%).

Sharp increase compared to the previous year (+4.2%)

The turnover grew sharply compared to the same three months of the previous year in the manufacturing industry (+4.2%). It grew more sharply in industry as a whole (+5.1%) due to the strong rise in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply abd waste management (+9.9%). Over this period, the turnover grew strongly in “other manufacturing” (+3.0%), in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+26.8%), in the manufacture of transport equipment (+6.0%), in the machinery and equipment goods (+2.4%) and more moderatly in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.7%).
