In Q4 2015, payroll employment increased in non-farm market sectors (+26,400 jobs, that is +0.2% q-o-q, after -900 jobs in the previous quarter). Year-on-year, it rose by 47,100 jobs (+0.3%).
In Q4 2015, payroll employment increased in non-farm market sectors (+26,400 jobs, that is +0.2% q-o-q, after −900 jobs in the previous quarter). Year-on-year, it rose by 47,100 jobs (+0.3%).
Employment continued to drop in industry (−8,900 jobs , i.e. −0.3% in Q4 2015) and in construction (−7 800 jobs , i.e. −0.6%) . However, these declines were smaller than in the previous quarter. Year-on-year, these two sectors lost a similar number of jobs (−41,400 in industry and −39,600 in construction).
Conversely, employment in services accelarated in Q4 2015 (+0.4%, that is +43 100 jobs, after +0.2% in Q3 2015). Excluding temporary work, employment in services also picked up again (+ 0.2%, i.e. +23 900 jobs, after +0,1% in the previous quarter). Over a year, excluding temporary work, employment in non-farm market sectors was virtually stable (+2,900 jobs).
Temporary employment growth remained strong
Temporary employment continued to increase in Q4 2015 (+19,100 jobs that is +3.4%), at nearly the same pace as in Q3 2015 (+3.0%). Year-on-year, it increased sharply (+44,200 jobs, +8.2%).
