In July 2015, the turnover went down in the manufacturing industry (–0.4%), after a slight rise in June (+0.2%). Exports fell more sharply (–2.3%). In the industry as a whole, the turnover declined as well (–0.5%), after a rise for two months in a row.
Every index in this issue is in value (tax excluded), seasonally and working day adjusted. The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.
In July 2015, the turnover went down in the manufacturing industry (–0.4%), after a slight rise in June (+0.2%). Exports fell more sharply (–2.3%).
In the industry as a whole, the turnover declined as well (–0.5%), after a rise for two months in a row.
Rise over the last three months (+0.8%)
Over the last three months, the turnover went up in the manufacturing industry (+0.8% q-o-q) as well as in the industry as a whole (+0.9%).
The turnover grew sharply in the manufacture of transport equipment (+2.5%), mainly in the manufacture of other transport equipment (+3.0%). It also increased substantially in the electrical and electronic equipment; machine equipment (+1.2%), particularly in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (+3.1%). The rise was slighter in other manufacturing (+0.3%), in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.3%) and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+0.2%).
Increase compared to last year (+1.4%)
In the manufacturing industry the turnover went up by +1.4% over the last three months, compared to the same three months of previous year.
Over this period, the turnover rocketed in the manufacture of transport equipment (+10.0%). It also grew, more moderately, in other manufacturing (+0.7%) and in the electrical and electronic equipment; machine equipment (+1.7%). On the other hand, it plunged in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (–14.0%). It levelled off in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.1%).

Sharp decline in transport equipment (–4.0%)
The turnover in the manufacture of transport equipment fell sharply in July (–4.0%, after +1.8% in June). It shrunk significantly in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (–7.4%, after +3.6%) and, less considerably, in the manufacture of other transport equipment (–1.6%). Exports plummeted (–12.1%).
New decrease in coke and refined petroleum products (–1.4%)
The turnover went down in July in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (–1.4%, as in June).
Rise in food products and beverages (+1.0%)
In July, the turnover grew in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+1.0%) for the second month in a row (+0.8% in June).
Slight growth in other manufacturing (+0.4%)
In July, the turnover rose slightly in other manufacturing (+0.4%) after a slight fall in June (–0.3%). It rebounded in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (+1.7% after –0.4%) and in the manufacture of rubber and plastic products, and other non-metallic mineral products (+1.6%, after –0.8%), but it fell in the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (–1.0%).
Slight rebound in equipments (+0.3%)
The turnover in the electrical and electronic equipment; machine equipment improved slightly in July (+0.3%), after a fall in June (–0.5%). It rebounded in the manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (+1.9%, after –1.0%). Conversely, it went down in the manufacture of electrical equipments (–1.5%) and in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (–0.6%).
Revisions: +0.1 points in June in the manufacturing industry
In the manufacturing industry, the variation of the turnover in June 2015 is revised upwards at +0.2%, instead of +0.1% published previously. In the industry as a whole, the variation in June 2015 is revised by +0.3 points (+0.4% instead of +0.1%).
