Second Estimates for the 2025 Agricultural Accounts Prices and Volumes Rebounded After the Decline in 2024
In 2025, according to the second estimates for the agricultural accounts, agricultural production increased by 4.7% at current prices, driven by a simultaneous rebound in both volumes and prices, though this did not fully offset the decline from the previous year.
Crop production rose by 3.9% in volume. Following the very poor year of 2024, wine and grain production in particular rebounded sharply. Crop prices, however, fell by 2.3%, tempering the increase in value (+1.6%). In contrast, the strong rebound in the value of livestock production (+10.1%) was mainly driven by rising prices (+9.3%), with volumes increasing only slightly (+0.7%).
Intermediate consumption fell by 1.0% in value, due to a decline in volume (-2.1%) that was more pronounced than the rise in prices (+1.1%).
Thus, after two years of sharp declines, value added in the agricultural sector was estimated to have rebounded significantly due to the combined effect of the rebound in production and the slight decline in intermediate consumption. Overall, gross value added at factor cost per full-time equivalent employment in real terms was estimated to have increased by 10.4% in 2025, following a 12.0% decline in 2024.
