Insee PremièreFirst estimates for the 2025 agricultural accounts Rebound in harvests and rise in animal production prices

Claire Géry, Emmanuel Mosny, Mickaël Ramonet, Alexandre Wukovits (INSEE)

According to the first estimates for 2025 agricultural accounts, agricultural production would have increased by 3.7% in current euros: the rise in volumes would be matched by a slight increase in prices.

Crop production would have been up by 3.5% in volume. Following a very bad year in 2024, wine and cereal production would have rebounded sharply. Prices of crops would have declined by 2.8%, dampening the increase in value (+0.6%). After the fall in 2024, animal production would have bounced back by 9.2% in value, mainly due to the rise in prices (+8.5%). The increase in volumes would have been limited to 0.6%.

Intermediate consumption would have decreased by 0.3% in value, with slight changes in both price (+0.5%) and volume (‑0.7%). After two years of sharp decline, which followed two years of strong growth, the value added of the agricultural sector would have risen anew: production would have grown while intermediate consumption would have remained stable. Overall, gross value added at factor cost per worker in real terms would have increased by 6.9% in 2025, after a drop of 13.0% in 2024.
