Use of information and communication technologies by companies in 2024 One company in ten report using artificial intelligence
In 2024, 10% of French companies reported using at least one artificial intelligence (AI) technology, four points more than in 2023. However, the use of AI by companies remained below the level observed across the European Union as a whole (13% in 2024). The adoption of these technologies depended heavily on the size of the company and the sector of activity: 33% of companies with 250 or more employees said they used AI, 42% of information and communication companies, compared with 5% or less for transport, accommodation and food services or construction. The most used AI technologies were those performing analysis of written language (44%) and machine learning (41%), but the companies that resorted to AI the most frequently used several technologies. More than a quarter of companies using AI employed it for marketing or sales or for production or service processes. The main way of acquiring AI software or systems was through commercial purchases (seven out of ten companies).
