This municipality has experienced contour changes since 2013 :

  • 01/01/2019 – Oiron devient commune déléguée (chef-lieu) au sein de Plaine-et-Vallées (79196) (commune nouvelle).
  • 01/01/2019 – Création de la commune nouvelle de Plaine-et-Vallées en lieu et place des communes de Brie (79054), d'Oiron (79196), de Saint-Jouin-de-Marnes (79260) et de Taizé-Maulais (79321) devenues déléguées.
  • 01/01/2014 – La fusion d'Oiron avec Bilazais (79036) et Noizé (79194) est transformé en fusion simple.
