Telework and on-site work: hybrid work, a practice now embedded in companies
In France, during the first half of 2024, telework concerned more than one in five private-sector employees. The widespread adoption of company agreements on telework, accelerated by the health crisis, firmly established its practice, normalising it into a hybrid pattern close to two days per week of telework. Telework was more prevalent among executives, whose tasks were more often performed from home, particularly in financial, and information-communication sectors.
Telework developed more in professional environments that were more conducive to it: the higher the proportion of managers in the company, the more likely other employees were to telework. Additionally, women teleworked more frequently than men, but parents of young children did not telework more than others. Finally, living far from one’s workplace or in a spacious home was associated with a higher likelihood of teleworking.
