Over a month, output in services fell in almost all sectors
In September 2024*, output fell back in transportation and storage (‑2.5% after +0.9%), administrative and support service activities (‑1.6% after +0.8%), professional, scientific and technical activities (‑0.9% after +3.9%), information-communication (‑0.8% after +3.5%) and accommodation and food service activities (‑0.6% after +0.4%). It was virtually stable in real estate activities (+0.1% after +2.3%) and arts, entertainment and recreation ** (+0.1% after +3.5%).

In the third quarter of 2024, output in services was up 2.8% compared to the same period a year earlier
Output in the third quarter of 2024 was 2.8% higher than that of the same quarter a year earlier. This increase was mainly driven by professional, scientific and technical activities (+4.5%) and by transportation and storage (+4.4%) where water transport was particularly dynamic (+23.3%). Output also increased year on year in administrative and support service activities (+1.8%), information-communication (+1.8%), accommodation and food service activities (+2.2%), real estate activities (+1.3%) and arts, entertainment and recreation** (+1.3%).
Revisions
The monthly change in the services production index in August 2024 is unchanged compared to the previous release, and stands at +2,4% (after rounding).
