This municipality has experienced contour changes since 2012:

  • 01/01/2016 – Charny devient commune déléguée (chef-lieu) au sein de Charny Orée de Puisaye (89086) (commune nouvelle).
  • 01/01/2016 – Création de la commune nouvelle de Charny Orée de Puisaye en lieu et place des communes de Chambeugle (89070), de Charny (89086), de Chêne-Arnoult (89097), de Chevillon (89103), de Dicy (89138), de Fontenouilles (89178), de Grandchamp (89192), de Malicorne (89241), de Marchais-Beton (89243), de Perreux (89294), de Prunoy (89317), de Saint-Denis-sur-Ouanne (89343), de Saint-Martin-sur-Ouanne (89358) et de Villefranche (89454) devenues déléguées.
