This municipality has experienced contour changes since 2012:

  • 01/01/2016 – Cherbourg-Octeville devient commune déléguée (chef-lieu) au sein de Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (50129) (commune nouvelle).
  • 01/01/2016 – Création de la commune nouvelle de Cherbourg-en-Cotentin en lieu et place des communes de Cherbourg-Octeville (50129), d'Équeurdreville-Hainneville (50173), de La Glacerie (50203), de Querqueville (50416) et de Tourlaville (50602) devenues déléguées.
