In 2020, in the centers of functional areas, seven out of ten relocations came from the same center

Despite the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 epidemic in 2020, residential mobilities followed the trends of recent years. One household out of ten moved in 2020. The new home was less than two kilometers away from the previous one for three out of ten relocations. These local relocations were more frequent in the centers of functional areas than in the commuting zone of theses centers.

On average, in the centers of major functional areas, seven out of ten relocations came from the center itself. This proportion was even higher when households moved in as homeowners.

Relocations within the same center of functional area occured mostly between two neighbourhoods with a similar or close standard of living.
