The balances of opinion related to the activity have sharply diminished

In February 2024, the balances of opinion on the general business outlook and the past sales have retreated sharply. The former has moved closer to its long-term average while the latter has moved back below its own. The balance on the ordering intentions has retreated for its part more modestly and has moved just below its average.

Furthermore, the balance of opinion associated with the past change in the workforce size has retreated sharply, while the one related to its expected change has increased slightly. Both of them remain below their long-term average.

The balance of opinion associated with the current level of stocks has diminished but remains above its long-term average. Finally, the business managers are as numerous as in the previous month to consider that the evolution of their business situation is difficult to forecast.
