In 2021, a quarter of anti‑pollution investments in industry were aimed at using cleaner energy or less energy

In 2021, 43% of industrial establishments with 20 or more employees carried out investments or studies to protect the environment. They spent 2.2 billion euros. The aim of this expenditure was to reduce the impact of the activity on the environment and to promote sustainable management of natural resources. Investments represented the majority of anti-pollution expenditure (1.8 billion euros). A quarter of anti-pollution investments were aimed at using cleaner energy or less energy. The amount of anti‑pollution studies was 381 million euros.
