This municipality has experienced contour changes since 2011:

  • 01/01/2019 – Bierné devient commune déléguée (chef-lieu) au sein de Bierné-les-Villages (53029) (commune nouvelle).
  • 01/01/2019 – Création de la commune nouvelle de Bierné-les-Villages en lieu et place des communes d'Argenton-Notre-Dame (53006), de Bierné (53029), de Saint-Laurent-des-Mortiers (53231) et de Saint-Michel-de-Feins (53241) devenues déléguées.
