This municipality has experienced contour changes since 2011:

  • 01/01/2017 – Mont-de-Lans devient commune déléguée (chef-lieu) au sein des Deux Alpes (38253) (commune nouvelle).
  • 01/01/2017 – Création de la commune nouvelle des Deux Alpes en lieu et place des communes de Mont-de-Lans (38253) et de Vénosc (38534) devenues déléguées.
