All data are corrected for seasonal and working day effects (SA-WDA).

In September 2022, production in services was almost stable over one month (-0.1% after +2.5% in August).

Over a month, output fell back in a majority of sectors

In September 2022, output fell back over one month in administrative and support services (-1.5% after +2.8%): all sectors were down with the exception of rental and leasing activities (+1.1% after +1.3%). Output also decreased in information-communication (-1.3% after +2.2%), transportation and storage (-1.1% after +3.3%), accommodation and food services activities (-1.8% after +2.8%), arts, entertainment and recreation (-2.4% after +1.6%) and real estate activities (-1.0% after +2.0%). On the contrary, it accelerated in professional, scientific and technical activities (+3.5% after +2.2%).

Over a year, output was up sharply (+9.8%)

Output in the third quarter (July to September 2022) was up sharply (+9.8%) compared to that of the same quarter a year earlier, in particular in professional, scientific and technical activities (+10.4%), information-communication (+10.9%), transportation and storage (+9.4%), and administrative and support service activities (+7.1%). Due to the lifting of the last health restrictions at the end of June 2021 for certain cultural and food services activities, followed by a gradual return to normal for these sectors, output was, by base effect, up even more strongly in the arts, entertainment and recreation (+28.9%), and accommodation and food services activities (+12.8%). Finally, it was almost stable in real estate activities (+0.1%).

Revisions

The month-on-month percentage change in the index of services output in August 2022 has been revised downwards. Initially published at +2.7%, it is now evaluated at +2.5% after accounting for rounding.
