This municipality has experienced contour changes since 2010:

  • 01/01/2017 – Saint-Paterne devient commune déléguée (chef-lieu) au sein de Saint-Paterne - Le Chevain (72308) (commune nouvelle).
  • 01/01/2017 – Création de la commune nouvelle de Saint-Paterne - Le Chevain en lieu et place des communes du Chevain (72082) et de Saint-Paterne (72308) devenues déléguées.
