18 March 2022 · n° 68In February 2022, oil and imported commodity prices rose again Prices of oil and raw material imports - February 2022
In February 2022, the price of oil in euros continued to rise strongly (+11.6% after +16.1% in January). The prices in euros of imported raw materials (excluding energy) slowed down slightly (+3.8% after +4.7%), due to both industrial raw material prices (+5.1% after +7.7%) and food commodity prices (+2.6% after +3.0%).
As rapeseed oil, wool and hide prices for December, January and February are not yet available from the data provider, they have been assumed to be constant in dollar terms for this publication. This hypothesis affects in particular the aggregate price index for oilseeds (and therefore for food commodities) and for natural textile fibres (and therefore for agro-industrial raw materials). The values will be revised in a forthcoming publication when the relevant prices are published. In addition, the weights of the non-energy commodity indices have been updated, notably with import data for 2021, resulting in revisions of these indices where applicable (see the methodology note attached to this publication).
