  • Source: INSEE

Manufactured goods: rebound

Consumption of manufactured goods bounced back in November (+1.5% after –1.9% in October).

Durables: +3.0%

Purchases of durable goods rebounded sharply (+ 3.0% in November after –2.9% in October). This increase was mainly due to the strong recovery of housing equipment purchases (mainly furniture and computer purchases) and to a lesser extent to an increase in new car sales (which, however, remain at a level much lower than before the crisis). Consumption of other durable goods decreased slightly with a drop in sales of jewelry.

Textile-clothing: –0.7%

Clothing-textile spending decreased in November (–0.7% after –2.7% in October), with particularly in clothing.

Other manufactured goods: +0.3%

In November, consumption of "other manufactured goods" bounced backslightly (+0.3% after –0.5% in October), due to an increase in purchases of DIY materials.
