In September 2021, turnover kept growing in the manufacturing industry (+2.6% after +2.7% in August) as in industry as a whole (+2.6% after +2.9% in August).
Export turnover also increased (+2.9% after +2.2% in August).
In the following paragraphs, percentage changes by subsections are presented in descending order of their contribution to the overall percentage change of the industrial production index. The contribution of a subsection takes into account its weight and the magnitude of its evolution.
All data are corrected for seasonal and working day effects (SA-WDA).
In September 2021, turnover kept growing in the manufacturing industry (+2.6% after +2.7% in August) as in industry as a whole (+2.6% after +2.9% in August).
Export turnover also increased (+2.9% after +2.2% in August).
In September 2021, turnover continued to increase in almost all sectors
In September, turnover increased in almost all sectors. Turnover kept recovering in the manufacture of transport equipment (+16.0% after +7.2% in August). Turnover also continued to increase in mining and quarrying; energy; water supply; waste management (+2.6% after +3.6% in August), in “other manufacturing” (+0.9% after +2.6% in August), in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+2.8% after +1.2%) and more moderately in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.4% after +0.5% in August). Conversely, turnover decreased slightly in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (–0.4% after +3.8% in August).

Turnover in the manufacturing industry went up sharply over a year (+10.4%)
Industry turnover over the last three months under review (July to September) went up very strongly compared to that of the corresponding three months of the 2020 year (+10.4% for the manufacturing industry, +12.4% for the whole industry). The growth was particularly pronounced in “other manufacturing” (+14.1%) and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+50.8%). The increase was also pronounced in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+6.3%) and the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+6.2%). Conversly, turnover declined modestly in the manufacture of transport equipment (–1.0%). Turnover over a year also increased strongly in mining and quarrying; energy; water supply; waste management (+21.2%).
Revisions
The percentage change of the turnover index in August 2021 in the manufacturing industry was revised downwards at +2.7% instead of +3.0%; it was revised downwards at +2.9% instead of +3.0% for industry as a whole.
