Impact of the First Lockdown on Companies: Île-de-France More Heavily Affected than Other Territories
All territories were hit hard by the first COVID-19 lockdown in the spring of 2020: they suffered an unprecedented drop in turnover, a third of companies had their business activities suspended for two months, there was a general fall in demand in France and abroad, logistical and supply difficulties and mass use of short-time working.
Île-de-France stands out from the rest: it saw a greater decline in business (–19% compared with –15% in the rest of France), the companies there remained closed for longer (+10 days on average), international trade was more noticeably put on hold there and remote working was more widespread in this region (24% compared with 12%).
