The health crisis due to the Covid-19 impacts the quality of the data for November 2020: price collection on the field has been adjourned since October 30, some outlets were closed and a lot of products were no more available for sale. The prices of 14% of the consumption are therefore imputed due to the health crisis.

In November 2020, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 0.2% over one month, after being stable in October 2020. The service prices rebounded (+0.1% after –0.3% in October) and those of food prices accelerated (+0.6% after +0.2%). The prices of tobacco grew sharply (+4.9%) after being stable in the last month and those of energy also increased (+0.3% after +0.2%). In contrast, the prices of manufactured goods fell back in November (–0.3% after +0.4% in October).
Seasonally adjusted, consumer prices rose by 0.4% in November, after being stable in October.
Year on year, consumer prices increased by 0.2% after being stable the two previous months. This increase in inflation resulted from the acceleration of the service prices (+0.7 % after +0.4 %) and those of the food (+2.0% after +1.5%). The energy prices fell at the same rate as in the last month (–7.8%). The prices of tobacco slowed down (+12.5% after +13.7%) and those of manufactured goods decreased more sharply (–0.3% after –0.1%).
Slightly increase in core inflation year on year
Year on year, core inflation rose, in November, up to +0.4% after +0.3% in October. The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose by 0.2% over a month after being stable in the previous month; year on year, it increased by 0.2% after +0.1% in October.

Acceleration in service prices year on year
Year on year, service prices increased by 0.7% in November, after +0.4% in October 2020. The prices of communication services rose by 1.1% after –1.6% in the previous month in link with the rebound of mobile phone service prices (+0.2% after −5.6%). The decrease in the prices of transport services softened (–3.7% after –5.4%) in the wake of airfares (–8.1% after –14.6%). The prices of health services (+0.5% after +0.4%) and those of « other services » (+1.2% after +1.1%) accelerated slightly. The prices of housing-related services increased at the same rate as in the previous month (+0.3%).
Increase in food inflation year on year
In November 2020, food prices increased more sharply year on year than in October (+2.0% after +1.5%). The prices of fresh produces accelerated (+11.1% after +7.6%) in the wake of those of fresh vegetables (+20.1% after +12.6%) and those of fresh fruits (+9.7% after +8.7%). The prices of fresh fishes rebounded (+4.2% after –0.2%) compared to the last month. Excluding fresh produces, food prices increased at the same rate as in October (+0.5%). The prices of milk, cheese and eggs (+0.2% after –0.2%) and those of alcoholic beverages (+0.8% after +0.7%) grew while those of meat slowed down (+1.4% after +1.7%).
Same decrease in energy prices year on year as in October
Year on year, the decline in energy prices was the same than in the last month (−7.8%). Petroleum product prices decreased less strongly than in October (−15.2% after −15.5%). Those of electricity increased at the same rate as in the previous month (+3.8%) and those of natural and town gas diminished more strongly (−6.1% after −5.3%)

More accentuated decline in manufactured product prices year on year
Year on year, manufactured product prices fell by 0.3%, after –0.1% in the last month. Clothing and footwear prices dropped more than in the previous month (–1.8% year on year after –1.0% in October). Those of “other manufactured goods” slowed down (+0.3% after +0.6%). The prices of major household appliances accentuated their decline (−0.5 % after −0.1%). Those of newspapers, books and stationery (+1.6% after +2.0%) and those of glassware, tableware and household utensils (+0.7% after +0.8%) slowed down. The prices of furniture and furnishings (+2.1 % after +1.8%) and those of purchase of vehicles (+0.4% after +0.2%) accelerated. Finally, the fall in health product prices diminished (–1.5% year on year, after –1.8% in October).
