In 2019, employment grew at its fastest pace since 2007
In 2019, employment in France grew strongly: +405 000 (+1,4%) following a 232 000 increase in 2018 (+0,8%). This was the largest increase since 2007. The acceleration came from both salaried employment and self-employment. The growth of employment was mainly driven by the market services sector and, to a lesser extent, by construction and non-market services. Unlike in 2018, employment rose across all regions, especially in overseas regions, and particularly in La Réunion, French Guiana and Guadeloupe.
