Warning

These provisional results are only preliminary data. Accordingly, they should not be used for contractual revaluations. The indices published here are based on a limited set of price observations and from estimates of some rates of change for fares which are not yet available. The complete results will be published on 15 December 2020.

Moreover, the health crisis due to the Covid-19 impacts the quality of the data: price collection on the field has been adjourned since the 30th of October; moreover, certain products were unavailable for sale.

Additional information is available in “For further information”.

Over a year, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) should rise by 0.2% in November 2020 after being stable in the previous month, according to the provisional estimate made at the end of the month. This increase in inflation should result from the acceleration of the service prices and those of the food. The prices of energy should fall at the same rate as in the last month. The prices of tobacco should slow down and those of manufactured goods should decrease more sharply.

Over one month, consumer prices should rise by 0.2%, after being stable in the previous month. The services prices should rebound after a fall in October and those of the food should increase at a brisker rate than in the last month. The prices of tobacco should increase sharply and those of energy should rise slightly more than in October. The prices of manufactured goods should fall back.

Year on year, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices should rise by 0.2%, after 0.1% in October. Over one month, it should rise by 0.2%, after being stable in the previous month.

For further information

The price collection carried out by collectors on the field (about 40% in the CPI) has been suspended since the 30th of October. Despite the introduction of new collection methods (price collection online, telephone collection, scanner data), the quality of the November indices was affected. The missing prices due to a lack of collection or an impossibility to purchase the products were imputed in compliance with Eurostat guidelines.
