In September 2020, the turnover in large-scale food retailing fell back (−3.8% after +3.9% in August). This fall concerns both food (−4.1% after +4.5%) and non-food products (−4.6% after +1.9%). Sales of automotive fuel declined more modestly (−1.7%) after a near stability in August (+0.1%).
Turnover declined in both supermarkets (−3.3% after +4.2%) and hypermarkets (−4.8% after +3.2%).
In September 2020, the turnover in large-scale food retailing fell back
In September 2020, the turnover in large-scale food retailing fell back (−3.8% after +3.9% in August). This fall concerns both food (−4.1% after +4.5%) and non-food products (−4.6% after +1.9%). Sales of automotive fuel declined more modestly (−1.7%) after a near stability in August (+0.1%).
Turnover declined in both supermarkets (−3.3% after +4.2%) and hypermarkets (−4.8% after +3.2%).
Increase over a year (+1.4%)
The turnover of the past three months (July to September) in large-scale food retailing rose (+1.4%) compared to the same period one year earlier. Over that period, sales rose in food products (+2.8%) and in non-food products (+6.4%). On the contrary, sales collapsed in automotive fuel (−13.7%).
Year on year, sales increased in supermarkets (+2.2%) whereas they declined in hypermarkets (−0.6%).
