On all markets (French market and foreign markets), producer prices in industry rose again in November 2019 (+0.8% after a stability in October). Prices for the French Market ramped up (+1.1% after –0.2%) while those for foreign markets increased slightly (+0.2% after a stability). Year on year, producer prices in industry kept however declining in November 2019 (–0.5% after –1.1%).

FRENCH MARKET: +1.1% in November 2019
French producer prices in industry for the French market recovered in November 2019 (+1.1% after –0.2%), driven up by the prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water. On the contrary, manufactured product prices stabilized (after –0.2%). Year on year, French producer prices in industry for the French market kept declining in November 2019 (–0.8% after –1.3%).
Seasonal rise in prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water
In November 2019, the prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water sped up strongly (+4.7% after a stability) owing to a seasonal rise in producer prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (+6.2% after +0.6%), especially those of electricity transmission due to the switch to the winter rate. Year on year, the decline in prices of mining and quarrying products, energy and water strengthened in November 2019 (–1.8% after –1.4%).
Slight decrease in prices of “other industrial products”
The prices of “other industrial products” fell by 0.2% in November 2019 (after –0.1% in October). Chemical product prices decreased significantly (–1.0% after –0.4%), such as those of rubber and plastics products (–0.4% after –0.2%). On the contrary, the prices of wearing apparel sped up (+1.3% after +0.3%). Year on year, the prices of “other industrial products” kept decreasing (–0.8% after –0.7%).
New rise in food and beverage prices
In November 2019, food and beverage prices grew by 0.3%, as in October. Prices of meat and meat products sped up again (+1.4% after +1.2%), due to the persistent surge in pork meat prices combined with seasonal holiday season increases. Year on year, food and beverage prices grew by 1.0% in November 2019 (after +1.1%).

FOREIGN MARKETS: +0.2% in November 2019
The producer prices of French industrial products on foreign markets grew by 0.2% in November 2019 (after a stability), driven up by those of electricity.
Manufactured export prices stabilized (after –0.1%), the fall in export prices of “other industrial products” (–0.2% after –0.6% in October) was offset by the slight rises in export prices of food and beverages (+0.4% after +0.3%) and refined petroleum products (+0.2% after –0.7%).
Year on year, the producer prices of French industrial products on foreign markets stabilized in November 2019 (+0.1% after –0.6%).

Import price indices of industrial products: +0.3% in November 2019
In November 2019, the import prices of industrial products increased by 0.3% (after –0.1%), driven up by hydrocarbon import prices. Those of manufactured products remained virtually stable (–0.1% as in October).
The import prices of “other industrial products” declined by 0.3% (after a stability), mainly those of chemical products (–0.8% after –0.3%) and basic metals (–1.0% after –0.4%).
Food, beverage and tobacco import prices recovered (+0.2% after –0.3%), due to the rebound in prices of meat and meat products (+1.2% after –0.9%) and those of dairy and cheese products (+1.7% after –3.2%).
Import prices for coke and refined petroleum products fell slightly over one month (–0.3% after –1.2%) and more considerably over one year (–4.9% after –15.9%).
Year on year, import prices of industrial products kept declining in November 2019 (–1.0%), but at a more reduced pace than in October (–3.0%).
