In July 2019, output in services bounced back (+0.5% after −0.3% in June).
The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution to the overall variation. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.

In July 2019, output in services bounced back (+0.5% after −0.3% in June).
Services output increased over the last three months
Over the last three months (May to July), services production increased by 0.4% compared to the previous three months.
It increased sharply in household services (+3.0%) and in information and communication (+1.1%). Il also went up in business support activities (+0.4%): it rose in administrative and business service activities (+0.6%) and more slightly in specialised, scientific and technical activities (+0.2%). Output decreased in accommodation and food services activities (−0.9%), in transportation and storage (−0.4%) and in real estate activities (−0.5%).

Output grew strongly over a year
In services, output of the last three months rose strongly over a year (+4.5%).
It went up strongly in business support (+4.9%), be it in specialised, scientific and technical activities (+4.5%) or in administrative and business service activities (+5.4%). It also grew sharply in information and communication (+4.2%), in household services (+7.3%), in transportation and storage (+2.8%), in accommodation and food service activities (+4.3%) and in real estate activities (+3.2%).

In July 2019, rebound in business support
In July 2019, output in business support activities rebounded (+0.9% after −0.6%).
Output increased sharply in administrative and business support activities (+2.3% after +0.2%). This increase was driven by all sub-sections, especially by rental and leasing activities (+5.1% after +0.4%), security and investigation (+5.3% after −4.1%), employment activities (+0.6% after +0.4%), services to building and landscape activities (+1.3% after −1.7%), other administrative and business support activities (+0.4% after +1.2%) and travel agency, tour operator (+1.2% after +9.4%).
Output was near stable in specialised, scientific and technical activities (−0.1% after −1.2% in June). Activities of head offices and management consultancy (+4.8% after −2.2%), legal and accounting activities (+1.7% after +0.5%) and other professional, scientific and technical activities (+3.1% after −2.6%) grew sharply whereas output decreased again in the architecture and engineering activities (−5.1% after −0.4%), in scientific research and development (−3.8% after −2.2%), and in advertising and market research (−2.9% after −0.5%).
Strong rise in household services
In July 2019, output in household services recovered strongly (+4.9% after −0.8%). It bounced back strongly in arts, entertainment and recreation (+8.8% after −1.2%) whereas it dwindled in other personal services production (−2.7% after +0.2%).
Sharp rebound in information and communication
Output in information and communication turned up sharply in July 2019 (+1.6% after −1.2%). It rebounded in computer programming (+2.9% after −1.0%), in motion picture, sound recording, music publishing (+3.4% after −1.7%), in information services (+2.1% after −2.9%) and in edition (+1.1% after −0.7%). It diminished again in telecommunications (−0.9% after −0.9%) and in programming and broadcasting activities (−2.3% after −1.4%).
Near-stability in transportation and storage
Output in transportation and storage was near stable in July 2019 (+0.1% after −0.7%). It bounced back in land transport (+0.9% after −0.2%) and in postal and courier activities (+4.4% after −5.1%) but folded in warehousing and support for transportation (−0.9% after +0.2%) and in water transport (−6.2% after +4.1%). It declined again in air transport (−1.5% after −5.2%).
Strong withdrawal in accommodation and food service activities
In July 2019, output in accommodation and food services dwindled strongly (−4.2% after +3.1%), be it in food and beverage service activities (−2.8% after +1.2%) or in accommodation (−8.7% after +10.0%).
