In July 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing decreased again (−0.4% after −0.7% in June), due to the higher decline in non-food products (−1.6 % after −0.3%). By contrast, sales recovered slightly in food products (+0.2 % after −1.6%) and gathered pace in automotive fuel (+1.3 % after +0.8%).
Turnover fell back in supermarkets (−0.9% after −0.1%) whereas it was stable in hypermarkets (+0.1 % after −1.3%).
In July 2019, the turnover in large-scale food retailing decreased again (−0.4% after −0.7% in June), due to the higher decline in non-food products (−1.6 % after −0.3%). Decrease over the last three months (−0.2%)
Over the last three months (May to July 2019), the turnover in large-scale food retailing decreased by 0.2% compared to the previous three months. Over that period, sales fell back in food products (−0.4%) and in non-food products (−1.0%). Sales of automotive fuel rose (+1.4%).
Turnover was stable in supermarkets and declined in hypermarkets (−0.5%).
Decrease of 0.9% over a year
The turnover of the past three months in large-scale food retailing decreased by 0.9% compared to the same period one year earlier. Over that period, sales fell back in food products (−1.1%) and in non-food products (−2.3%). Sales of automotive fuel rose (+0.7%). Year on year, sales decreased in supermarkets (−1.3%) and in hypermarkets (−1.0%).
