Insee FocusEnergy consumption in industry falls in 2017, while the bill goes up

In 2017, gross energy consumption in industry amounted to 37.4 million tonnes of oil equivalent. It fell by 2% and returned to its 2015 level. However, the energy bill increased (+1% in current euros), after a fall of 8% in 2016. The prices of solid mineral fuels and oil products is actually increasing. In 2017, the energy bill amounted to 13.3 billion euros. Gas and electricity remain the most-used energy sources.
