In October 2018, output bounced back in the manufacturing industry (+1.4% after −1.9% in September), as well as in the whole industry (+1.2% after −1.6%).

Manufacturing output was virtually stable over the last three months
Manufacturing output was virtually stable over the last three months and it grew slightly in the whole industry (+0.2%).
Over the last three months, output increased in “other manufacturing” (+0.7%) and in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+0.9%). It expanded sharply in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+8.1%). It grew also slightly in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (+0.3%). Conversely, it diminished in the manufacture of transport equipment (−1.7%) and in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−1.2%).
Over a year, manufacturing output was virtually stable
Output of the last three months was virtually stable compared to the same quarter of 2017 both in the manufacturing industry and in the whole industry.
Over a year, output of the last three months decreased sharply in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−2.4%) and in the manufacture of transport equipment (−1.2%). On the contrary, it expanded again in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+1.7%), and increased more slightly in “other manufacturing” (+0.3%) and in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (+0.3%). It was stable in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+0.0%).

In October, output bounced back in “other manufacturing” (+1.2% after −1.3%)
Output bounced back in most branches: strongly in the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (+2.1% after −1.3%), in pharmaceuticals (+3.9% after −1.3%) and in textiles, wearing apparel, leather and related products (+5.1% after −4.4%), more slightly in other manufacturing, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (+0.4% after −2.2%), in the manufacture of wood, paper and printing industries (+0.9% after −0.2%) and in rubber and plastics products, and other non-metallic mineral products (+0.2% after a virtual stability). On the contrary, it continued to shrink in chemicals (−0.6% after −0.8%).
Output bounced back sharply in machinery and equipment goods (+3.9% after −3.9%)
Output bounced back strongly in the manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (+6.6% after –5.5%), also in that of electrical equipment (+3.6% after –4.9%) and more moderately in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products too (+1.6% after –1.9%).
Output bounced back also in the manufacture of food products and beverages (+0.7% after −1.7%)
Output bounced back particularly in distilling, rectifying and blending of spirits.
Output bounced back a little in the manufacture of transport equipment (+0.5% after −2.5%)
Output went up markedly in motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (+2.9% after −0.4%). It kept going down in the manufacture of other transport equipment (−1.3% after −4.0%).
Output went up slightly in mining and quarrying; energy; water supply (+0.3% after a stablility)
Output increased in the production of electricity.
