In October 2018, the turnover in large-scale food retailing kept rising (+1.1% after +0.4% in September). Sales increased again in food products (+0.5% after +0.8%), they bounced back in non-food products (+0.8% after −0.8%) and gathered pace in automotive fuel (+3.1% after +0.8%).
Turnover kept increasing in supermarkets (+1.2% after +1.3%) and in hypermarkets (+0.6% after +0.3%).

Decrease over the last three months
Over the last three months (August to October), the turnover in large-scale food retailing decreased compared to the previous three months (−0.8%). Over that period, sales fell in food products (−1.1%) and in non-food products (−1.2%). By contrast, they grew in automotive fuel (+2.1%).
Turnover decreased more in supermarkets (−1.7%) than in hypermarkets (−0.4%).
Growth of 2.7% over a year
The turnover of the past three months in large-scale food retailing rose by 2.7% compared to the same period one year earlier. Sales in food products increased (+1.6%) whereas they decreased in non-food products (−3.4%). Sales of automotive fuel surged (+16.8%).
Year on year, sales increased in supermarkets (+3.0%) and in hypermarkets (+2.6%).
