Hourly wages: the importance of the socio-professional category and the diploma
In 2014, in private and public companies with 10 or more employees, the average usual hourly wage is 17.3 euros gross, including regular bonuses. Significant disparities exist by socio-professional category and degree. They prove lower depending on age, sex, sector of activity or type of position held. These wage differentials narrow considerably when the characteristics of the employee, the position held and the employer firm are taken into account.
