Year-on-year, consumer prices are expected to rise by 0.2%, as in December 2015. This stability of inflation between December 2015 and January 2016 is likely to be a result of contrasting movements: on the one hand, food prices should slow down and on the other hand, the decrease in prices of manufactured products and energy should ease.
In January 2016, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices is set to fall by 1.0% compared with the previous month. Year-on-year, it should rise by 0.4% after +0.3% in December 2015.
