In December 2015, prices of frequently purchased goods in hyper and supermarkets were stable for the third month in a row.

Year-on-year, the decline in prices of frequently purchased goods eased off again in hyper and supermarkets
Year-on-year, the drop in prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets has become less and less pronounced (–0.2% in December after –0.3% in the past month and –1.0% one year earlier).
In large and predominantly food stores, prices of frequently purchased goods followed the same trend, decreasing also by 0.2% year-on-year in December.
In the other types of stores, prices of frequently purchased goods were still on the rise year-on-year (+0.4% after +0.5% in November), even if they slowed down.
Overall, considering all stores, prices of frequently purchased goods grew very slightly year-on-year in December 2015 (+0.1%), for the first time since June 2014.

Food prices were stable in hyper and supermarkets
In December 2015, prices of food, excluding fresh foodstuffs, were broadly stable in hyper and supermarkets after a slight increase in November (+0.1%). Year-on-year, they also remained unchanged. Their past decrease have progressively eased (–0.1% year-on-year in November, –0.3% in October and –0.6% in December 2014).
The prices of meat maintained momentum in December. They grew by 0.3% month-on-month, as in the previous month, and by 0.7 % year-on-year (after +0.5% in November).
The beverage prices were stable month-on-month, as in November, and remained unchanged year-on-year (after –0,1% in November).
The prices of other food products (excluding fresh foodstuffs) declined slightly in hyper and supermarkets after two consecutive months of stability. Year-on-year, they decreased by 0.4%, as in November.
Prices of cleaning and personal care products were also stable in December
In December 2015, prices of cleaning and personal care products were overall unchanged month-on-month (after a slight decrease by 0.1% in the three previous months). Year-on-year, they decreased by 0.8%, less sharply than during the past months (–1.2% in October and November 2015; –2.7% in December 2014).
