In May 2015, as in April, prices of frequently purchased goods remained broadly unchanged in all the kinds of stores.

ExcIuding hyper and supermarkets, prices of frequently purchased goods increased very slightly in May 2015 (+0.1%) after a stability in April.
Prices of frequently purchased decreased year-on-year
Year-on-year, prices of frequently purchased goods decreased by 0.9% in hyper and supermarkets in May 2015, after -1.2% in March and April. In May 2014, they had declined by 0.3%.
In large and predominantly food stores, prices of frequently purchased goods were down to the same extent in May (-0.9% y-o-y after -1.1% in April).
Considering all stores, the price fall of frequently purchased goods remained less marked than in hyper and supermarkets (-0.6% after -0.8% in March and in April) due to a slight increase in the other kinds of stores (+0.2% year-on-year, as in April). In May 2014, prices of frequently purchased goods had decreased by 0.1% in all forms of stores as a whole.

The decline in food prices was alleviated in hyper and supermarkets year-on-year
In May 2015, as in April, prices of food excluding fresh foodstuffs were broadly unchanged in hyper and supermarkets. Year-on-year, they decreased by 0.8% after -1.0% in April and -0.9% in March. In May 2014, these prices were stable compared with May 2013.
Variation by products was more mixed.
Thus, prices of meat sold in hyper and supermarkets recovered (+0.3%) after a stability in April and a slight decrease in March (-0.1%). Year-on-year, they diminished by 0.3% (after -0.4% in March and April). In May 2014, they had increased by 0.7% year-on-year.
In May 2015, beverage prices remained overall unchanged in hyper and supermarkets after a slight incrase in April (+0.1%). Year-on-year, they gradually recovered, increasing by 0.2% after -0.3% in April and -0.5% in March. In May 2014, they were down 0.3% year-on-year.
Prices of other food products (excluding unprocessed foodstuffs) diminished by -0.1% for the sixth month in a row in May 2015 in hyper and supermarkets. Year-on-year, they dropped by 1.5% after -1.6% in April. In May 2014, they had decreased by 0.3% year-on-year.
Decline in prices of cleaning and personal care products in May
In May 2015, prices of cleaning and personal care products decreased again in hyper and supermarkets (-0.2%) after a stability in April. Year-on-year, they continued to decline, though at a slightly slower pace than during the last months (-1.5% after -2.0% in April and -1.8% in May 2014).
