In December 2011, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.4%, after a rose by 0.3% in November. The year-on-year change was +2.5% in December. The price index without tobacco grew by 0.4% in December 2011 (+2.4% year-on-year).

Adjusted from seasonal variations, the monthly change increased by 0.3% (+2.5% year-on-year).
The rose of CPI of December resulted from the seasonal increase of services and fresh products prices. Prices of manufactured products increased a bit with the end of some special offers. Energy Prices went down slightly.
For seasonal reasons, prices of services were growing
In December 2011, prices of services were growing (+0.5%; +1.8% year-on-year), due to the growth of prices of tourism services with year holidays and the minimum wage increase which took effect the 1st of December.
Increase of manufactured products prices
Prices of manufactured products increased by 0.5% in December 2011 (+1.0% year-on-year).
Prices of food products went up slightly
Prices of food products went up slightly in December 2011 (+0.3%; +3.3% year-on-year), after an increase by 0.3% in November. Prices of fresh products went up by 0.9% in December 2011 (—1.7% year-on-year), as usual at this time of the year. Prices of food products except fresh products were growing moderately (+0.2%; +4.1% year-on-year).

Small decrease of energy prices
In December 2011, prices of energy decreased by 0.1% (+9.3% year-on-year).
Core-inflation increased
Core-inflation (ISJ) increased by 0.3% in December 2011 (+1.8% year-on-year).
The harmonised consumer price index (HCPI) went up by 0.4% (+2.7% year-on-year).
