In May 2012, the consumer prices index (CPI) decreased by 0.1%, after a rise by 0.1% in April. The year-on-year change was +2.0%. The prices index without tobacco decreased also by 0.1% (+1.9% year-on-year). Adjusted from seasonal variations, the monthly change went down by 0.1% (+2.0% year-on-year).

In May 2012, the increases and decreases offset each other: prices of energy and services of transport and communication went down, while prices of food products and tourist services went up. Prices of manufactured products increased slightly.
Prices of energy were weakened
In May 2012, prices of energy were weakened (—1.5%; +5.0% year-on-year). In the wake of the decline of fuel products rates, prices of fuel products went down (—2.5%; +6.1% year-on-ear).
Prices of food products went up
Prices of food products went up by 0.6% in May 2012 (+3.0% year-on-year). After a decrease in April 2012 (—0.6%), prices of fresh products went up anew (+3.0%; +3.9% year-on-year): for seasonal reason, prices of fresh fruits increased (+7.1%; —0.6% year-on-year); those of fresh vegetables decreased (—0.7%; +9.3% year-on-year). Prices of food products except fresh products were rising by 0.2% (+2.9% year-on-year).
Slight decline of prices of services
In May 2012, prices of services were declining slightly (—0.1%; +1.5% year-on-year).
