In December 2011, manufacturing output decreased in volume (-1.4%). It had increased in November 2011 (+1.4%). In total industry, output decreased as well (-1.4%).

During the last quarter, manufacturing output decreased (-0.5%)…
During the last quarter (quarter-on-quarter change), output decreased in the manufacturing sector (-0.5%) as well as in the industry as a whole (-0.8%).
Output decreased in the “other manufacturing” (-0.9%), in the manufacture of electrical, electronic equipment and machine equipment (-1.1%). On the other hand, it increased in the manufacture of transport equipment (+1.6%) and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+4.6%).
…though it remained higher than its last year’s level by 2.1%
Manufacturing output rose by 2.1% (y-o-y).
It increased in the “other manufacturing“ (+1.3%), in the manufacture of transport equipment (+3.1%) and in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment and machine equipment (+1.1%).
It strongly increased in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+20.2%) due to strikes in October 2010.
Please note: all the series are adjusted for seasonal variations (SA) and the number of working days (WDA).

In December 2011, output decreased in the « other manufacturing » (-1.2%)…
Output decreased in the other manufacturing, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (-2.0%), in the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (-1.2%), in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (-1.2%) as well as in the manufacture of rubber and plastics products (-0.8%). It also decreased in the manufacture of textiles, wearing apparel, leather and related products (-2.9%) and in the manufacture of wood and paper products; printing and reproduction of recorded media (-1.3%). Meanwhile, it slightly increased in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (+0.3%).
…in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment, machine equipment (-3.2%)…
Output sharply decreased in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (-4.6%), in the manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (-2.8%) as well as in the manufacture of electrical equipment (-2.1%).
…and in the manufacture of transport equipment (-0.7%)
Output decreased in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (-1.4%). On the opposite, it increased in the manufacture of other transport equipment (+0.5%).
