Warning : “New orders received in industry – December 2012” will be the last issue of new orders index in industry.

New orders index has been issued since 2003 to reply a new European requirement. Eurostat intended to build a leading indicator of industrial production in the European Union. As the index obtained had not achieved its aim, Eurostat removed the requirement in 2012.

In order to lighten the administrative burden on business, INSEE decided to no longer investigate new orders received monthly. Monthly business surveys will continue to provide qualitative information of the situation of order levels in industry.
