In December 2010, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.5% (+1.8% year-on-year), after a rise by 0.1% in November.

In December 2010, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.5% (+1.8% year-on-year), after a rise by 0.1% in November.

The price index without tobacco increased by 0.4% in December (+1.7% year-on-year).

Adjusted from seasonal variations, the monthly change also went up by 0.4% (+1.8% year-on-year).

This increase of the prices in December came both from the growth of the prices of oil products and from the seasonal rise in the prices of services and fresh products. Prices of tobacco edged up in December (+1.3%; +1.5% in December 2009; +5.6% year-on-year).

Rise in the energy prices

In December 2010, the energy prices rose (+1.9%, after an increase by 0.9% in November; +12.5% year-on-year).

Seasonal increase in the prices of services

For seasonal reason, the prices of services increased in December 2010 (+0.4%; +0.5% in December 2009; +1.4% year-on-year). This increase was attributable to the growth of the prices of some services linked with tourism.

Slightly rise in the prices of food products

The prices of food products rose slightly in December 2010 (+0.2%; +1.2% year-on-year). This rise was attributable to the, partly seasonal, growth of fresh products (+1.7%; +9.4% year-on-year): fresh vegetables (+5.0%; +15.9% year-on-year) and fresh fishes and crustaceous (+3.1%; +7.3% year-on-year).

The prices of food products except fresh products were decreasing slightly (—0.1%; +0.1% year-on-year).

Prices of manufactured products were growing slightly

In December 2010, the prices of manufactured products were growing slightly (+0.2%; +0.3% in December 2009; —0.2% year-on-year).

Slightly increase of core-inflation

Core-inflation (ISJ) was slightly increasing in December 2010 (+0.1%; +0.7% year-on-year like in November 2010). The harmonised consumer price index (HCPI) went up by 0.5% (+2.0% year-on-year).
