In August, the turnover expanded in accommodation and food service activities and in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles Sales volume in the retail trade and personal services - August 2010

In August 2010, the turnover rose in accommodation and food service activities (+1.9 %), in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+1.8 %) and, to a lesser extent, in household services (+0.3 %). Conversely, it slightly dipped in the retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles (–0.2 %) after a bounce in July (+2.3 %).

In August 2010, the turnover rose in accommodation and food service activities (+1.9 %), in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+1.8 %) and, to a lesser extent, in household services (+0.3 %). Conversely, it slightly dipped in the retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles (–0.2 %) after a bounce in July (+2.3 %).

In the last three months, the turnover increased in accommodation and food service activities (+1.2 %) and in the “retail trade…” (+1.0 %) compared to the three previous months. It also rose in household services (+0.3 %) whereas it was broadly steady in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (–0.1 %).

Compared to the same three months of the previous year, the turnover of the last trimester was up in all the sectors : +4.1 % in accommodation and food services activities, +4.0 % in the “retail trade…”, +1.4 % in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycle and +0.5 % in households services

According to our estimate, the turnover in the “retail trade…” is expected to still decline in September 2010 (–0.5 %).

The SA-WDA evolution in July has been revised by –0.4 point in the trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles. It has been corrected by +0.1 point in accommodation and food service activities and –0.1 point in “the retail trade...” whereas it has been confirmed in household services.
