The producer price indices on the French market display a noticeable rise by 0,7 % in January, after slight growths in December and November, by respectively +0,1 % and +0,2 %.

The producer price indices on the French market display a noticeable rise by 0,7 % in January, after slight growths in December and November, by respectively +0,1 % and +0,2 %.
The prices of refined petroleum products increase again swiftly
Drawn by the increase of crude petroleum prices, reinforced by the depreciation of euro vs. dollar, the prices of refined petroleum products increase by +6,1 % after +0,8 % in December. In a year, the change of these prices is by +32,2 %.
Food products pricesturn up
After several months of continuous decrease, except last month (+0,2 %), food products prices turn up by +0,4 %. This increase, limited by the drop of processed and preserved meat prices (-0,8 %), results mainly from yearly tariff negotiations upwards, notably for bread and fresh pastry goods (+3,7 %).
The prices of electrical equipment and other products increase also
The prices of electrical equipment rise by +1,8 %, partly because of noticeable increases of copper price. The prices of chemical products progess markedly by +1,0 %, bound to petroleum prices.
FOREIGN MARKETS: +0,1 %
The change of the French producer price index on the external markets is only by +0,1 %, the rise of refined petroleum products prices (+5,9 %) being lessened by decreases of electrical equipment and transport equipment prices. In a year, the withdraw of the whole industrial products is only by -0,5 % (after -1,2 % in December).
ALL MARKETS: +0,5 %
On all markets, with a rise by +0,5 % in a month, the French Producer Price Index recovers globally its level of past year, i.e. +0,1 % relatively to January 2009.
Import prices indices of industrial products: +1,4 %
Import prices of industrial products rise markedly by +1,4 %, mainly because of the simultaneous increase of crude petroleum products (+6,8 %) and refined petroleum products (+5,7 %), but we observe a general progress of all kinds of industrial products. In a year, the change of the global import price index is by +2,4 %.
